Many businesses start as sole proprietorships. That is, there is no formal business entity. At some point, the business owner needs to decide if it’s wise to form a corporation or limited liability company (LLC).

Protecting your assets is the most common reason that people form an LLC or corporation. This video is a good summary of the issues.
